Creating a timeless urban look

This photo is from a fantastic shoot of Kiah. This was taken with a 40mm lens at f/1.7. I prefer to used focal lengths that are in the ‘mid’ to ‘short’ range.  It has only been recently that camera makers have been able to make quality wide angle and telephoto lenses. If we go back 30-40 years most photography was done in the mid-wide to short telephoto range. What does this mean to you when you hang art on the wall? By staying with the more classic lenses we’re able to give our photos a more timeless look.

The photo below could have been taken yesterday or it could have been taken 40 years ago. I used a special desaturated technique to further enhance its timeless feel.

Urban Art Portraits – A slideshow

We’re very good friends with, probably, the top slide show company in the world, eMotion Media. This allows us to do a few things. First, we can create HD slide shows that will play in full HD on any TV or mobile device. And, yes, they look great on iPhone’s, especially the iPhone 4. Additionally, we can create great-looking DVDs for those in your family who may not be up to speed on the whole HD, thing.

This slide show I created after a great walk in the Pearl, downtown Portland, OR. We walked down Flanders street and up Davis – so many great locations and so many great backgrounds. I hope you love the show.
